Dear Doris,

Summer weather at last. we are roasting 72° early this morning & it went up to almost 90° last night on the porch & not much air stirring. there is more air today it seems a little better. the shower that went around cooled the air a little I guess. we didnt make up a fire yesterday & no need of it today. there is no need of eating heartily these terrible hot days. After six oclock Ralph came up to mow the lawn. he did a pretty good job for a hot day. the we got him to fix the curtain in the setting room so we could shure it up & down. he is very handy about fixing things has a tact. Blanche Hammond was here Sunday she looks terrible old. she is going away on her vacation Wednesday & then is going to give up her job at nursing & live at her son in laws & take care of his little children. hope she changes so she gets along with him. his wife died about a year ago. she was a good woman whome every lady liked. no one gets along well with her mother but this son in law has money & knows her. so he asked her to come there & live, you see he is taking his chances. she is now going home to Nova Scotia on her yearly vacation.
