There is lots of cool air coming into this upstairs front window so I guess it will be a much better day to keep comfortable than it was yesterday. the radio said you down in Virginia the thermometer was 71° & cloudy.

Mrs Barry went over to see Maude yesterday. Bertha Upham was just leaving there. Maude has just $80 left in the bank she will soon be left on the town she gives her money away right & left, nothing worries her, she will receive a little income after an estate is settled that was her sisters. she wanted to hear Mrs Barry sing but she felt too tired as she had been then to several places calling & it was late. Maude & the Brides sister said they were coming over here to see me this week. they have always cared for me ever since Dr Brides their brother died. he was an only son & a mighty fine doctor. I miss him too bad he was taken. Amy has just called on me. she stayed quite a long time. it was like old times having her talking with us. she is going back & will stop a little while with Natalie, who is working in New York. Mrs Barry knows the place in Sarasota where she has her cottage. its where she used to stay & almost believes its the same little cottage she stayed in when she was there. Amy stayed till 12 oclock. then we just had time to heat up our stew for dinner & make my tea on the electric stove in the kitchen & had our water mellon cut up with sugar on it, for our desert. too hot for a hearty meal to day.
love Ma
