Stoughton July 1st 1947
Dear Doris
We are having summer weather at last, 86 today. I am dressed in my coolest rig & then am roasting. a thunder shower has been promised for the last two days & cooler tomorrow. I guess it will rain before morning but the thunder may not be here. I was lucky to get the lawn mowed yesterday. Ralph came & fixed our dryer over the kitchen stove & them mowed the lawn. he did a good job. he has a funny way of talking something to do with his pallet, so I cannot understand what he says so I let him talk with Mrs Barry. he goes to her church.

I dont get out much this hot weather but keep quiet & try to make the best of life inside the cool house. We had our screen doors put on by Ralph when he came before. so when he mowed the lawn & under the spice bush it was a good time to get my plants out so she put them on the step & all I had to do was to put them under the bush. they are all out side now & will be there if a shower comes up & wets them up to night. I am glad you have a chance to ride off & see so many nice places. its too bad your car is getting so unmanageable you have driven it a good many miles & wish you could afford a new one.
