We have just had company from Cambridge come to see her
up to 70° on the Porch at 5 Oclock

Stoughton April 5th, 1947

Dear Doris,

Today we are having a pouring rain to quite warm though I bids fair to continue through the night a good night to sleep. this will put an end to the grass fires, which have been so numerous. I can see the fields are turning green we have had so much moisture. the bushes are full of buds & bulbs are coming up with their buds under the front windows. She has just got home from the library where she went to get my book. The librarian said she would keep it for me till today. now I can read it tomorrow, while she goes to church. we got 10 lbs of sugar yesterday & our sugar has not been all out. we had a sugar bowl left over. our lamb lasted also. what we got now will be a roast of Veal. I think. we make things last as long as possible turning them into a stew at the last.

I suppose you are home & getting rested from your trip a little vacation does all the family good & guess it was much needed. The man over at the house on the corner where the Toomeys use to live, has a huge fire in his incernerator. he must be burning up his swill & as the rain is pouring down its a good day for it. most of our neighbors do the same
