It does seem good to see bare ground. we have had but little snow, all winter & hope it still remains so. I got in a basket of wood yesterday in the nick of time, just before it began to sprinkle. saved its getting wet.

I never see the Ballantines these days. I guess the ones who bought their house, wont be in a hurry about coming up from Florida, although we hear its been the coolest down there it has ever been for a long time. Gladys came here Sunday. she doesnt ever see Charleys folks. says she went there to call on them Xmas with presents & his wife was in, she saw her pass by the window. but wouldn't let her in. She left the presents & came away. so guess they have nothing to do with them too bad. Gladys went up to Vermont this summer & saw Elsie it seems, there are two women living there (guess he has two wives). she saw the old farm where her family used to live, it has a small sugar house built there on the old place, otherwise its the same as usual. not change but a little. Roys wife is still living & Mildred is very stout. she & Elsie & Mildreds son, came here with Myrtie to see me in the summer. I guess Myrtie enjoys going to Vermont summers. its a pretty place but they have hard winters, Massachusetts is good enough for me. love Ma
hope you are all over your colds.
