Stoughton January 7th 1947
Dear Doris,
It is very slippery going & coasting makes it worse. We have sanded our front walk to make the going easier for the mail man. We expected more snow & rain during the nite but it was very mild & the moon make it lighter. a good full moon & a very sunny day to day so why complain if it is cold one can stay in the house & we are lucky to have plenty of coal & oil to keep us warm.

We put out our rubbish Monday & it went off Tuesday morning. We were glad to see it go.

Two houses next to us are empty they look lonesome not to see any lights after dark. The Ballantines seem happy living over to the little house with the Aunt. We occasionally see their light she has made over her property to Gertrude & Addie that I guess is the root of their happiness. I am glad Doris enjoyed her xmas vacation keeping her going made it nice for her it was just what she needed. Bert Wentworth sent me a card asking for her address I think he wanted it for his daughter. We got a nice card for Charley & his wife. I think he takes
