Stoughton December 9th 1948
Dear Doris It is cold today, ten below freezin early this morning. but very sunny today. I am here alone this afternoon so guess I will improve my time & write you a letter.

I have finished my sewing & she has got the bundle & is going to put it in the office. I made your secon [[second]] slip by finding some cloth I had in my box & its piecened. The aprons I had no pattern to go by so did the best I could cutting them out. hope that night dress fits him as I had parts of an old one he had in the closet.

It seems so quiet to day, most of the neighbors are away. I haven't even seen the little dog running around. had to bring in my swill bucket the dogs got so they came and tipped it over & took out the bag of swill. the man only comes Thursdays to collect it so today is his day. 

Mrs Barry went over to the Hospital yesterday to see the patients. Maude complained the most about that she didnt have any water to drink. they wouldnt give her any so she said I told her guess she wets herself. they all complain of being hungry. she also went over to call on Miss Seriac & found his sick in bed. Frank Toomey was there with her. she is very nice & dont complain about the Ballantines. she thinks they made a mistake in selling their house over here. they could have made it pay in taking boarders or roomers. Mrs Ring has turned against them. so we heard also all the Toomey family. they are all for her sister over here. Frank does all her chores stays there daytimes. Tom is with
