Stoughton November 25th. 1948

Dear Doris.

We are having cold raw days. its rained for the last three days it is cloudy today but no rain so far but temperature below 40° a snowey feeling day it is not snow here for which we are very thankful. but north of us I guess according to the reports, they are having it a plenty we get the coolness of it. I am expecting anytime now that Doris may show up, as she said in her card she was coming. I wish you & Sidney were here too. We haven't any Turkey but a fine chicken, with all the things to go with it. we couldn't get a small Turkey, so he brought us a lovely chicken that wouldn't last us forever to get rid of a nice 1/2 of a good squash, she has made a pudding & a mince pie, with cranberry sauce & cookies guess we shall fare well.

Doris has just showed up, we are now most ready for our dinner. around one O'clock the little fowl must be slow in cooking the tender it will be. our table looks good with its dish of fruit in the center grapes oranges & pretty table cloth. I hope my appetite remains good. Doris hands felt cold when she entered the glass door. it doesnt seem to grow any warmer. I fixed my fire in the little stove early this morning all ready to light its a good heater but we shant need the heat. till towards night. that will save turning on the oil. Doris is just going over to see Maude before eating dinner. they are all hungry & cold over at the Hospital so that must be so they all tell the
