going for that, but we can fix it where he will never know a thing.

BLUE
You know your father better than I do (Takes a drink.)

BOBBY
What's the "piano brigade"?

THEO
Blue here has the best thieves and store burglars in this part of town, and we plan to work on those businesses over on 125th Street until they run the insurance companies out of business.

BOBBY
You mean breaking into people's stores at night and taking their stuff?

THEO
That's right, but not the way you do it. We'll be organized, we'll be revolutionary.

BOBBY
If the police catch you, he ain't gon' care what you is, and if Pop ever finds out, the police gon' seem like church girls! (Slips out the front door.)

THEO
(After him.) You just remember that the only crime you'll ever commit is the one you get caught at!
(Pause.)
Which reminds me, Blue——I don't want Bobby to be a part of that "piano brigade."

BLUE

You got a sister named Mary or something?

I want to know how are you going to get along with her, selling bootleg whiskey in this place?

THEO

Come here, let me show you something. (Moves into back room. BKUE follows.) How you like it--ain't it something?

BLUE
(Standing in doorway.) It's a back room.

THEO
Yeah, I know. But I have some great plans for reshaping it by knocking down this wall, and putting--

BLUE
Like I said, it's a back room. All I wanta know is, will it do the job. It's a good room. You'll do great with that good-tasting corn of yours. You're going to be so busy here, you're going to grow to hate this place--you might not have any time for your love life, Theopolis!

THEO
(Laughing.) Don't you worry about that--I can manage my sex life!

BLUE
Sex! Who's talking about sex? You surprise me, Theo. Everyone's been telling me about how you got so much heart, how you so deep. I sit and talk to you about life, and you don't know the difference between sex and love.

THEO
Is it that important?

BLUE
Yes, it is, ol' buddy, if you want to hang out with me, and
