Copy of Contracts made in Office of Asst Supt sub Dist of Granville from the 17th day November 1866
I Articles of Agreement entered into this 17th day of November 1866. By and between Charles Hudson of the first part and Samuel Taylor (Fd) of the second part both of the County of Granville State of North Carolina
II Witnesseth that the said Chas Hudson of the first part agrees to furnish a certain tract of land in the above named County and State, a horse to work said land, half of the tools necessary, furnish half of the see, pay half the Black-smith accounts and half of other expenses necessary to make a Crop, he binds himself to work in said Crop and if he loses any time more, than the said Samuel Taylor (Fd) he is to pay him (said Taylor) at the rate of Fifty-cents per day for such time lost, is to furnish a House for said Taylor & Family to live in, rent-free until Christmas 1867.
III And the said Samuel Taylor (Fd) of the second part does agree to work with said Chas. Hudson and make a crop in the year 1867. Also agrees to pay said Chas. Hudson the sum of Thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents for the use of said Hudsons Horse to furnish half the seed to feed said Horse while working in the Crop, to pay said Hudson Fifty-seven dollars and fifty cents for rent of said furnished by Hudson, to furnish, half the seed pay half of the Black-smith account, and furnish half the tools necessary to work the farm and half of all other expenses necessary in making said Crop and binds himself to work under the direction of the said Charles Hudson, and if he loses mote time than the said Hudson, he is to pay him him at the rate of Fifty cents per day for said time lost

And they they Parties of the 1st and 2nd part do mutually

agree to work to-gether in making a Crop of Tobacco Corn etc., to be respectful to each other, and if from business or sickness, time is likely to be lost, from the crop they agree to furnish a good working hand in their respecting places, if not so doing to pay at the rate above specified. After the Crop is made the products to to be divided equally between the said Charles Hudson and the said Samuel Taylor (Fd) each receiving half of the Crop, but that part belonging to the said Taylor shall remain in possession of the said Charles Hudson, until said Taylor pays all the expenses as above agreed.
