Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen & Abandoned Lands, Office of Agent Sub-District of New Berne, N.C.. New Berne, N.C., December 17th 1868. Lieut. John M Foote Bureau Officer Plymouth N.C. Lieutenant In accordance with you letter dated Nov. 18th 1868, I have the honor to transmit herewith a draft on the First National Bank in the City of New York for the sum of Forty nine 2[[?]]/100 dollars, payable to the order of William Smidick, being the amount of William Smidick's a/c principal and interest at the Freedmen's Saving & Trust Co. at this place. The delay in the settlement of this a/c was explained in my letter dated Nov. 28th 1868. Enclosed please find a memorandum of the a/c with interest. On receipt of this, please acknowledge.
