Williamston 21. Decr 68.

Leut. Foot.

Dear Sir

I write this at the request of Berry Mooring, a col'd man of this place, and make the request for him to get you to aid him.

Berry alleges that his son John Perkins enlisted as a soldier in the Federal Army in Co. C. Reg 35th Col'd Troops. He was enlisted by a Mr. Leyman at Newbern.

John is dead and Berry as his father desires to get his Bounty and back pay. he died in the early part of this year. Berry requests me to say that he was informed that some other col'd man was endeavoring to get his Bounty by representing that he was the only heir of of the said John.

Let me hear from You.

Yours
Jos. J Martin
