son Cad who is 10 to 12 years old she will cook up her provisions here to last them through and will only have to pay passage. She will be ready to start as soon as she gets through harvesting her crop. She is quite anxious to leave her husband and return to N.C. you can inform her Mother that she is now quite well and peart this morning picking cotton

I this morning received a letter from Capt James Kelly asking if I could convey her to Collumbus which I can do but it would be nonsense to send her by RR 21 miles to him here she would have the same Road to travel over again to get back to Tibber the starting point and have so informed him My intuition has been if I can do so to get them a through Ticket that she may have no cause to exibit her funds among straingers on the route I will if alive do all I can for service when she gets ready to start but as I am to you as also her Mother a strainger if you deem it best you remit the funds to the Agent at Columbus Missi Capt James Kelly

I presume Capt Kelly can give you my general character for honesty & responsibility he can refer to the Hon J.T. Harrison Beverly Mathews the Sheriff or Circuit clerk of the County indeed I have lived here 23 years and am well known by both black & white. Verry Respectfully yr obt servt
