Coleraine N.C.
April 29th 1868.

Sessoms, J. W.

Replies to letter of the 20th concerning the discharge of certain hands from his employ on account of their quitting work to attend the Election. States that he gave his hands two days, tuesday & wednesday for that purpose but that these left on monday about 2 PM, that their course is condemned by the other hands, that their wages are not due until the close of the fishing season, say 10th to 15th of May. Requests that the matter be decided by the Republican Candidates of Hartford or Bertie counties but would prefer the presence of Lieut Foote.
