Lieutenant Foot Sir,
Again I will endeavor to write you a few lines concerning my child I have not received
him yet When I received your last letter telling me
where my child was I was sick so it was entirely out of my power to go after him but I sent my husband immediately I received your letter he went to our Bond house and saw the child but could not get him he refused to give him up saying that he did not believe that it was my husband but I should have thought he had proof enough for the boy knew my husband, he had seen him before -
and he recognized him then, my husband also took with him the letter I received from you. After he refused
letting him have him, then he promised to send him on the next boat to Edenton that has been three weeks ago I have written to him since and asked him to send my boy to Edenton but have not heard from him yet. The letter I
received from his Bond after I received yours he told me he had the child and he was satisfied and did not want to
leave him to come with me and he would hire him
but I don't want to hire him out he is the only one
I have and I want him. I have put myself to a great
deal of trouble to get him my husband also but it all seems to do no good but I thought I would make one more effort and if should avial nothing I don't know what I shall do It is my greatest desire on earth now to have him with
