Witnesseth that I, Ed. F. English of the first part do hereby agree with Venus Black of the second part to rent her Thirteen acres of land for planting purposes & house No. on "Bermuda Island, Bermuda Plantation St Helena Island S.C. for the year ending Dec. 31st 1868.

And that I Venus Black on the second part do hereby agree to pay as rent for the same to Ed. F. English his heirs or assigns the sum of eighty pounds of white stone cotton for each acre of land & fifty pounds white stone cotton as rent for the house. Said cotton to be delivered to him at his cotton barn from first pickings. And I further agree to plant one half cotton.
