I am very active in the WAVES National organization having started some of the first Units in California seven years ago - I have remained on the Board since then. My title is now co-ordinator of States Directors. We have Units in every State now.

The final flight story is an interesting one as the plane nearly crash-landed with a full load of passengers on board. I'm looking for that story now.

I logged about 1800 flight hours during my two years of flying. We put in 85 hours a month flying the R6D which I believe it is also called the C118A. We carried 62 passengers and an extra cylinder or jug which was put in the front of the very first seat. The airplanes seemed to have a problem with having these go out on them and so we just ended up carrying our repair job with us. One time the cylinder went out over Midway - We put our passengers on an airforce plane and the rest of us (crew) waited 17 days for a cylinder to be flown over so we could depart. That is a very small Island and with all those gooney birds it was hard to walk around without stepping on them. They live up to their name.....

I'll be waiting to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Gloria Farwell
