She as written more than 100 technical papers and articles and written and edited a handbook on heat transfer and fluid flow. She edited the G.E. newsletter on heat transfer and fluid flow for 20 years. She holds three patents.

A Fellow of ASME, Mrs. Fitzroy has served on its Board of Governors, as senior vice president and chairman of its Council on Public Affairs and as head of the antecedent Policy Board on Professional and Public Affairs. She has also been a member of the ASME National Nominating Committee and the policy group on education.

She has held many positions, including chairman, in the Hudson-Mohawk Section of ASME, and has been active in the ASME Heat Transfer Division.

She is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and a life member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). She served on the Council on Public Affairs of the American Association of Engineering Societies.

She received the Achievement Award of SWE in 1972. In 1975, she was the recipient of the Demers Medal of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
