The bag, duffel, has been developed as a replacement for the bag, barrack, od, for troops sent overseas. It is a more durable container of larger capacity and greater ease of carrying and although padlocks will not be issued it can be locked if necessary.

This bag has the warmth of about two 4-pound blankets when used with the water-repellant case. It is not intended for really cold weather, but is adequate down to about 40°F. It may be used inside other sleeping bags to give additional warmth. Several bags may be used one inside the other. Like all sleeping bags, it has a mummy shape, a hood, and a quick-release slide fastener.
