Dear Ma:

I am waiting for Sid to come home from Kew. He is working late this evening to finish up all he can before going off for the weekend. He has been invited down to Bournemouth which is on the south coast of England, for Sat. & Sun. to go over the library of a botanist there.

I have been busy today getting information about trains, going to Cook's to cash a cheque, going down to the American Lines about boat trains to Southampton to take the boat home, buying a couple of tickets & getting the embarkation data. After this was done, it was lunch time, so I had a bit of bread & butter & cheese at a Lyons Store and then spent the afternoon at the Brit. Museum. I am hungry for supper now and wish Sid would come as it is nearly 6 and the Lyons restaurant closes at 6.30. He can get supper there for about 25 or 35 ยข that is adequate.

Sid wants to give up our rooms at this place the beginning of the week. You see when he comes back Monday, we will meet him half way at Salisbury which is a famous city with a famous cathedral and Stonehenge, a ruin dating back to prehistoric times. We decided we should like to visit it and that might go on to Exeter down in Cornwall to see something of the country. It is called the English Riviera because the climate is so much milder, and is a great summer resort. We should only spend the day along the coast, returning to Exeter and turn back to London by Wed. noon. So we are packing up to leave this hotel after Sun. night, Doris & I, and on coming back we will go to a cheaper one not far away which we found last evening. We will be there only a week - and Sid even less as he must return the 29th, - he applied for a later plane but so far nothing has come of it. So when Sid does come tonight we shall have a busy evening getting him ready to leave early tomorrow, going down to buy railroad tickets and finding some supper somewhere. It is 6 now - the church chimes somewhere about are ringing. Cold here - wearing both sweater coat and woollen dress today!

Doris.
