20 July 1950.

Dear Ma: We are going to a farewell party of the scientists tonight in this Town Hall. There will be food, much talk & finally dancing. The building outside is most striking with gold trimmings & they say inside it is even more gilded up with great paintings illustrating Swedish history. Many of the botanists are going on a trip to Lapland this week end for about 10 days, but we are not. We will stay a few days longer till Tues. and then return to Copenhagen for a few days, and then back to Amsterdam, and around Aug 1st go to London. Sid is having a wonderful time here, and I am resting and getting over Paris. Doris enjoys it extremely. She is full of curiosity about everything now.
Doris.
