Upsala Sweden 16 July 1950.
Dear Ma: We have spent the day, Sid and I with the botanists (1000 of them) at this place, the little home of the great Swedish botanist Linnaeus. We visited his country place a few miles out and now his town place, and this is the garden. We lunched at the University the oldest in Sweden, and tonight will dine at the great castle on the hill where much history has taken place and which has walls 5 ft thick, one of the castles you read about. The hall in which we dine is twice as big as Stoughton Town hall. Won't get home till morning! I came up yesterday, an all day trip from Copenhagen. Sid met me. Sweden is beautiful - like Maine - rocks, fir trees clean air - Doris.
