Stoughton Sunday 9th 50

Dear Doris a very beutiful day not hot but very comfortable. I hope my last letters reached you early so you wont be worried too bad Sid cant stay to make time pass off more pleasant. I slept all night very good. Gertrude is about gone so she is in a coma & Mrs Barry stayed over with Addie & Mrs Ballentine a longee time to keep them company. I went off to bed around 9 Oclock but layed awak most all night but made it up last nite. my nerves sometimes get the best of me. I got my glasses mended so now they are all right. Mrs Burk took them down and also mailed my letter so you must have got it earlier as it went out while she was there. She is going to take me to ride some day this week a very good hearted woman they bought the Henry Johnson house. Amy I think is growing young she dont show her age. that jolly disposition was given her to go through life and stand up through her troubles. I certainly enjoyed her call she cheered me up. lots of mail is waiting for you in the bag here in the diningroom closet. the weather has been so mild that I can sit out on the little porch its a good change for me when I am here alone the Benoies are very good neighbors, I couldnt have anyone better. Mrs Barry is listening in the telephone to the serman over the telephone she doesn't go to church they dont like the minister he is terrible lazy & they have a nigger, a man his name is Mitchel being a Southerner, they dont listen in to negro preachers. It is so warm she wont have to make up a fire very early a few cinders will be what she intends to burn so save on coal. I am going to wash out a few of my clothes. I wore the new dress yesterday you bought for me to wear it fits me well & we both like it. The Colders are off on their summer vacation not many of the old neighbors are staying around home.
Hope Doris is getting used to her surroundings & finds plenty to eat. I think there is a letter waiting here for here in the little basket, so you are greatly missed glad to welcome you home to play a game of checkers soon, for I know you will be anxious to come soon.
