Dist of Montgomery Captain: I have the honor to request that Lt Geo. P. Webster 9th Ills Cavy be ordered to report to me by letter for duty in this Bureau. He is stationed at Eutaw, Greene Co. Ala. administering the Amnesty Oath but has signified his willingness to act as Agent of this Bureau in addition to his present duties. Very Respectfully, Your obt servt, Brig. Myer. I regret to say that it is impossible to comply with your request as the condition of the funds of the Bureau in this State will not at present permit of the employment of civilians. We depend entirely on Military details. Should our financial condition improve hereafter as it may possibly I will give attention to your recommendation.
