It is hereby ordered that the civil and military agents of the Government transfer to the Assistant Commissioner, Bureau of Refugees. Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands, for Alabama. The use and custody of all real estate, buildings, or other property, seized or held by them in that state as belonging to the late rebel Government, together with all such funds as may arise or have arisen from the rent sale or disposition of such property, which have not been finally paid into the Treasury of the United States.

I have the honor to transmit in compliance with your orders of yesterday the subjoined drafts of a proposed order in reference to certain animals in Alabama marked as the property of the United States

-Order-

It having been officially reported to this Bureau Department late a large number of animals marked as the property of the United States are by exchange abandonment, or otherwise, in possession of Citizens of Alabama and employed in raising necessary food.
The Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Land for that State, is charged with the control of such cases, and will take up such property only where the United States has an equitable title and the animals are not indispensably employed in agricultural pursuits.
Animals which have been signed as above and the proceeds of the sale of such have been sold will also be transferred under the above order
