Mr Garland Goode
Pres: Monroe Co. Agricultural Society
Claiborne, Alabama

Dear Sir:
I have read with interest and satisfaction the plan of your Association for promoting the welfare of the Agricultural laborers and planting interests of your County. Under your care and with such changes as experience may dictate I trust it may prove a blessing to all concerned and a guide to others who are rightly seeking to remedy the present confusion and distress.

The support which you and your friends are resolved on to provide a home for helpless blacks such as the laws provide for helpless whites and such as necessity and Christianity alike require has my hearty sympathy and will have my earnest co-operation. I trust we shall be able during the coming winter to render such assistance to the white as well as the black poor of your County as will satisfy all parties of the benevolence and usefulness of our common Government.

In compliance with the wishes of your Association I cheerfully tender you the appointment of Assistant Superintendent of this Bureau for Monroe County.
Respectfully,
Your Obt Servt
