Sir;
A Freedman named Stephen states that his two children Fanny & Lucy have been apprenticed to one Jno C McQueen who lives about one mile west of Greenville. You will please enquire into the case and ascertain by whom they were apprenticed, and under what regulations, whether by the act passed by the recent Legislature or under the old law that relates to white children. Also ascertain whether these men are natural guardians for the children and any other circumstances connected with the case.

Make a report of this at once.
Very Respectfully
