Supt &c.
Selma, Ala

Sir,

If Mr Griffin will take back the plantation and keep such destitute persons upon it as may be sent by the Asst Supt at Selma you can agree to furnish him rations for them and such clothing as we can obtain.

It may be practicable to give him a full supply of clothing. If so, we will. The mules that are now on his place will be allowed to remain there as long as practicable but the understanding must be that whenever called for they are to be given up. It may not be necessary to take them some time but no definite time can be stated.

Very Respectfully,

Garland Goode Esqr
Agent. R.F & A.L.
Claiborne, Ala

Sir,

Mr D.S. Hall of Autauga Co, states that he has employed a woman named Ludy who was formerly in the employ of Rebecca Rogers of Monroe Co. He states, and the woman also that she signed a contract for one years labor with Mrs Rogers from Jany 1st 1866, but did not know what she was signing, supposed it to be something else.

Her three children, Susan, Charity & Louisa, are still at Mrs. Rogers and the mother desires to obtain them.

You will please enquire into the case and if there is no good and valid reason for this detention you will cause the children to be given up to the parent.

If the contract was signed under the circumstances as stated by Ludy it is invalid, at any rate it does not appear to have been approved by you.

Whether the contract was not carried out by Ludy or otherwise there can hardly be any good reason for the detention of the children.

Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servt.
