Sir;

A communication of the 6th inst has been received from Mr Wm B. Hall asking as to whether you can act as Agent of the Bureau for the trial of cases arising between the white and colored people.

In reply I have the honor to state that by an act of the Legislature Magistrates are obliged to receive testimony of freedmen where they are interested parties, and to take such cases as come before them for trial.
