In reply I have the honor to state that Lt Col G A Washburn Supt of the Bureau at Mobile, has charge of collecting (free of charge) the claims of discharged Colored Soldiers, for back pay bounty etc. Very Respectfully Your Obdt Servant (Sgd) O.D. Mobile Ala Colonel I have the honor to refer to you the enclosed letter. You will please cause such public notice to be given as will notify all colored soldiers, their heirs, or representatives, of the readiness of the Bureau to collect all claims of Colored soldiers against the Government free of charge. Sir In reply to your communication of the 26th ulto I have the honor to state that measures will be taken to obtain free transportation for the rations intended for the destitute of your County, over the railroad leading to it.
