I have the honor to respectfully report, that a leave of absence 
for (15) fifteen days, to proceed beyond the limits of the Department

has been granted to 1st Lieut. John E. Wright, to 'E' 58 Ill. Infty.
Vls., subject to the approval of the General Commanding the Department 
of Alabama, for the following reasons.
Lieut. Wright received a telegraph dispatch announcing the sudden death of his father, leaving his estate in
an unsettled condition, from which losses, to Lieut. Wright
and family would ensue, unless immediate attention is given.
I respectfully request that my action may be approved and the leave of absence granted.
There is 21 comnd. Officers for duty with the 
Regiment too remaining with his company.

Posts of Montgomery.

The Colonel commanding directs, that no seizures
of Government animals or property be made from Citizens,
without Orders, from the commanding Officers of Posts.
Whenever cases of this nature are reported 
to the Provost Marshal of a Post, he will make 
a statement to the Commanding Officer, and seizures
will be ordered [to] at the discrection of the latter.
