I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication, and accompanying papers, of the 25th Ult. in reference to Mr R.D. Cunningham.  I had already seen Mr Cunningham and done all he asked, promising to compensate him for actual results.

I think he is a man of no character and that his last move was a ruse to get money.
