Colonel

I have the honor to recommend that a Physician be sent to Selma to take charge of the Medical Department of the Troops at that Post.

Dr Hood in charge of the freedmen Hospital at that place has been attending the Troops but has just moved his Hospital from close to the Camp to a distance of a mile from it.

During the last two weeks has has been sick and unable to give them the attention they require. There are now twenty three sick in the Company.

I directed Maj Ogilby to employ a physician if he could find one that could take the test Oath, but he reports that there are none there who can do so.

He has been obliged to call in physicians and pay for their services and medicines himself.

Very Respectfully
