Sir

Your communication of the 11th inst regarding the case between Mr Reynolds and his laborers is received. The Assistant Commissioner directs me to say in reply that he endorses your action in the case, and is much gratified at your having the independence to meet out simple justice to the employer and employees. The case is so plain and simple that the County Judge will without doubt dismiss Mr. Reynolds complaint as frivolous so soon as it shall be brought regularly before him.

Your communication of the 11th inst is received. In reply I have to say that if the stipulation in regard to Medical attendance was not inserted in the contract, it would seem that the employer could not in law be held responsible for the bills for such attendance. In any event the abrogation of Martial law removes such cases from the jurisdiction of the Bureau and they must be decided by the Civil Courts.

Captain

Your communications of the 9th and 10th inst are received. It is thought possible that troops may be sent you. If a company be sent at once can it be temporarily quartered in town at small expense during the time it will take to erect permanent barracks. Answer stating how and at what expense the troops can be thus temporarily quartered.
