Sir

Your communication of the 28" inst is received. The rations desired have been directed to be sent you. In regard to the cooking utensils I have written to Lieut Shorkley Supt at Selma as he is understood to have considerable amount of such ware in his possession as Bureau property. As soon as I get a statement from him as to the amount he has, I will send you as much as can be spared. The Greenville paper says that Enoch Hicks was fined $25, each for the Assaults on Rebaolte and the soldier. Was he tried on the charge of burning the furniture of the school house, and, did he pay the fine of fifty dollars for the two Assaults. Report fully in regard to these points.

Very Respectfully

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 28" inst, with endorsements enclosed relative to papers in the case of Wm Thompson Co "C" 1st Batt 15" U.S.I. said papers were transmitted to Ed. McK. Hudson Comdg Post of Mobile, Ala for his action and have not been received back.

I am unofficially informed that the prisoner was transferred from the Post of Fort Gaines, (where he had been held in confinement) to the Comdg Officer Post of Mobile, to be turned over to the Civil Authority. Major Hudson has been ordered to return the papers, and report what action has been taken in the case.
