Probate Judge Kingston, Autauga Co. Ala.

Sir

Samuel Reedy (Col) makes statement at this office that Edward Reedy who lives in that portion of Wetumpka which before the creation of Elmore Co was situate in Autauga has in his possession a child of his sister named Mary aged about 16 years whom he refuses to give up. Also another child of the same sister named Sarah aged about 13 years. The Father of the first child is alive and in this County, but it is not known where the Father of the other is. If these children have not been bound under the law of Alabama, The Father of Mary has a right to take her as also has the uncle, as next of kin, to take Sarah. I am therefore desirous of knowing whether said children have been apprenticed. An early reply giving information on this point will oblige.

Very Respectfully
