Sir

Richard Warren (col) makes complaint at this office that Josiah Jones of your county unlawfully holds possession of two of the formers children. Stephen aged 12 and Robert 8 years. States that Jones has had them since they were free that he (Richard) has endeavored twice to obtain possession of them but that Jones refused to allow him to enter his premises and states further the children have never been bound to the said Jones. I would be glad if the children not been legally bound under the laws of Alabama, if you would cause them to be delivered to their Father. If such delivery is not in your power and you will make official statement of the fact of said children not being bound, prompt measures will be taken at this office to deliver them to the person having a legal right to them.
