Cor Sec New York City Sir Your communication of the 21" inst to Gen Swayne asking an estimate of the amount of corn needed in Alabama over and above the supplies which it is supposed will be received from all other sources, to supply the destitution which must exist in the State between this time and the gathering of another harvest, is received. The General is now absent on a tour through the State but I will forward the letter by todays mail to Huntsville where he will be on the 2" prox. Your letter of the 22" inst on the same subject was received on the 24" and forwarded to the General at Huntsville where he will receive it on the 2" prox. He left here on the 22" inst on a tour through the Northern portion of the State from which he will return on the 6" or 7" prox.
