This will be handed you by Dr Douglas who is introduced to me by Gov Patton as a reliable gentleman of this place.  He states that he was last night stopped in the prosecution of his business by a soldier who informed him that a public street along which he was passing had been closed against all travel by your order.  If this last statement be correct, I request that you send me written explanation of the fact, if not that you will inflict due punishment on the offender, parading in your Command if need be, that the man may identified.

Your telegram relative to supplies at Tuscumbria is received.  The Asst Commr directs that you write a full statement of the amount of supplies received on account of the Bureau the amount received on account of the So Relief Association, New York City, and amount of each destroyed or damaged, at Tuscumbria Landing. You are also requested to telegraph to these Hd Qrs the arrival of additional stores from the association.

It is desirable if possible that the damaged corn should be issued at once leaving the good to be sent into the interior.

Information has been received at this office from the Corresponding Secretary So Relief Association New York City, that ten thousand (10000) bushels of corn were shortly to be shipped from New York to Mobile for the relief of the destitute of Alabama.

The Asst Commr desires you to telegraph these Hd Qrs the arrival of this lot of stores.
