I am directed by Gen Swayne to say to you that a communication from Hon B.C. Cook of Ills to Gen Howard has been referred to this Office in which he asks that a situation in the Bureau be given you.

An application made to this office direct giving such testimonials as you may have of your capacity will be considered should a necessity arise for an increase of employees.

Immediately on the receipt of this communication you will arrest one Walter Barrett Sr. of your county an convey him to Selma Ala and deliver him to the Commanding Officer of the United States Forces at that Post.

He is charged with having committed a murder on or about the 2nd inst at or near his residence. 

He lives some seven miles from Randolph and near Centreville.

Mr Houston who lives about one mile from Randolph and Mess Tucker and Webb of Randolph can inform you of the wherabouts of this man Barrett.

You will be held responsible for the strict execution of this order.
