I enclose a copy of an affidavit charging George Washington Townsend with an assault with intent to murder said Cargill

Immediately upon the receipt of this order you will proceed to arrest the said George Washington Townsend and bring him to this City for a preliminary examination upon the said charges. You will report his arrival to me and retain him in your custody until further orders
