Complaint has been made at this office by John Isam of an assault and robbing committed on him on the 14" inst, in Pike County.

His statement is that Bosen Tanner, Frank Watson, Nathan Watson, Julian Bright and –– Barbour came to his placee on the Widow Bullard's plantation (ten miles below Troy on the Newton Road), took from his house $135. in money, and $40. in good; that they then tied the hands of the complainant, and carried him to a store about a mile off, when he was threatened with death.

That while his captors were asleep, he escaped, and made his way to Montgomery, though he was pursued with dogs. The Bullard family, from whom Isam hires the land, are witnesses in the case.

Isam states that, as an excuse for this conduct –– Barbour (one of the party who took him) charges him with stealing from him $5.00, of which charges Isam says he is innocent. The Asst Commir directs that you proceed at once to Pike County, and investigate this case. You will report the results of your investigations as early as possible.
