I have the honor to request the revocation of the appointment of Mr N.G. Claus as Clerk and his appointment as Agent at a salary of one hundred ($100.) dollars per month - revocation and appointment to date from the 1st prox.  Mr Claus is now a Clerk in the Sub. Asst. Commissioners Office at Demopolis and it is designed to place him in charge of Greene County.  I have also to request

the appointment of Pierce Burton as Clerk at one hundred dollars ($100.) per month to date also from the 1st prox.  The services of P.R. Forney at one hundred and fifty ($150.) dollars per month and of the ten Agents in the Sub. Dist. of North Alabama, to wit MM Gilbreath, JN Greene, D.C. Turrantine, CC Sheets, C.C. Gersin, James Danforth, I.J. Mitchell, C.A. Tinge, W.C. Garrison and W.T. Pointer, can be dispensed with on the 1st prox. and they will be suspended from duty on that date and I have the honor to request the revocation of their appointments.

Your telegram of this date relative to report regarding Marine Hospital is received.  The papers in this case were originally referred to the officer in charge of the Bureau at Mobile but as the Hospital was not under his control the case was on the 11th inst referred to the Comdg. Officer of the Post.  Col. Shepherd, who was then the Comdg. Officer left soon after on leave of absence, which may account for the delay.  A report in the case has been telegraphed for and will be forwarded as soon as received.
