248 The supplies thus sent to Alabama were consigned in part to Governor Patton, and in part to the Asst. Commissioner of the Bureau. In accordance with the method already found to be most effective, these were all traded as one, and applied by our joint direction, under the immediate care of Col. W.C. Arthur, late Assistant Commissioner of Subsistence, and Hon M.H. Cruikshank, State Commissioner for the Destitute. They are therefore in the accompanying table presented as a whole.
