I have the honor to request authority to purchase six (6) copies of the "Revised Code of Alabama" at eight dollars ($8.) each for use at the more important Bureau stations in the state. This request is made by desire of Genl. Swayne who is absent in Atlanta.

I have the honor to acknowledge receipt this day of your communication of the 18th inst. enclosing discharge of Shadrick Cartwright late Corp Co "C" 12th U.S.C.I. and stating that his claim to the amount two hundred and thirty dollars and twenty cents ($230.20/100) has been allowed said amount being in the hands of the Chief Dis. Officer of the Bureau for remittance to him. Discharge and notification of allowance of claim will go today to Bvt. Brig. Genl. John B. Callis Sub. Asst. Comm. at Huntsville.
