Upon the recommendation of Messrs RM Reynolds and AL Morgan, you are hereby appointed an Agent (without pay) of the Bureau RF and AL. in Wilcox County.  You will report in writing to Bvt. Maj. Geo. Shorkley Sub Asst. Commissioner at Selma, Ala. who will give you all necessary instructions as to your duties and powers.  Your appointment will hold good until further orders.

Yours the 18th inst. relative to transfer of ex rebel Commissary building in Demopolis to the Society of the Episcopal Church there is received.

In reply the Asst. Commissioner directs me to say that owing to the extraordinary conduct of the District Judge in assuming or attempting to assume control over said building no definite action can now be taken.  So soon as the matter shall be properly settled the General will endeavor to do all for the Society in his power.
