Sir,
Your communication of 29th January has been received.
The Superintendent of Education, Mr. Bush accompanied by Mr. Langston Special Inspector of Schools from Washington will leave this city for Selena, Talladega, and Demopolis today.
They will examine the matter of Schools and School houses in the Sub. Districts that they visit. When their report and recommendation action will be taken as soon as practicable.
Every available means will be employed to further Educational interests.

I most respectfully ask authority to obtain from the Subsistence Department of the Army so long as it may be necessary a regular issue of Subsistence for the "Cobbs Orphans Home" a charitable institution located in the City of Montgomery. 
It has been the custom of the Asst. Commissioner when necessary to send orphans of loyal citizens to this institution, where they have received most careful attention. It was established in 1858 under the direction of Bishop Cobb of the Episcopal Church, and is a most worthy institution. The inmates now number Eighteen (18), there are accommodations for Twenty six (26).
