Sir:
Referring to application for arrears of pay and bounty forwarded by you on the 20th inst, the Assistant Commissioner desired me to say that too much care cannot be taken in preparing applications in accordance with printed forms.

In the one forwarded you attach to it the certificate of the Clerk of the Court - it should have been upon the printed form. You also attach Revenue stamps, which are not required upon these applications, made through officers of the Bureau.

Sir:
I enclose herewith Proceedings of Board of Survey, upon property lost in shipment from Demopolis to Tuscaloosa Ala and for which you were responsible.

Should the boat "Jenny Rogers" not belong to the Mobile Trade Co, you will call upon her owners or Agents, (furnishing them with a copy of these Proceedings) for payment to the United States, thro' you, of the sum of One Hundred and Thirty Three Dollars and thirty two cents, ($133 32) the cost of the stores lost, and for which the boat "Jenny Rogers" is responsible. This amount will be forwarded to Bvt Lieut Col E. Beecher. Disbursing Officer.

Report your action and its results to this office.

By virtue of Circular No 24. dated State of Alabama. Bureau R.F. and A.L. Montgomery Ala April 27. 1868. you are assigned to duty as Sub Assistant Commissioner for the Sub District of Jacksonville, comprising the Counties of Baine, Cherokee, Calhoun and Cleburne.

You are hereby empowered to exercise and perform, within the limits of your Sub District, all the power and duties of the Assistant Commissioner, except such as by Regulations and orders devolve upon that officer alone.
