I enclose to you herewith a communication of Dr. Nott, Dean of the Faculty of Mobile Medical College. It should have had attention some days ago, but it is difficult at once to organize and carry on a system and as I have spent a considerable portion of this year in bed so I sometimes now find my duties beyond my strength. It is at least due Dr Nott that there should be a definite understanding, and I wish you to see him to that end.

1. You will perceive that Dr. Nott raises a question as to whether the [[strikethrough]] requred [[/strikethrough]] required expenditure of $3.000 should be regarded as compensation for two or for three years rent.

I am not disposed to differ with him about this, as I do not regard $1.500 a year too high.

2. Dr Nott lays great stress upon alleged abstraction of specimens.

I am assured by Capt. Poillon that
