I am hard at work and pleased with the prospect. I am practically alone. owing to the muster-out order which cut off the list I had submitted to you for detail. This will soon be remedied I hope.
Some delays occurred in my getting here. which consumed about two days more than the journey otherwise required. These were unavoidable except four days. Which were authorized by the Secretary of War. as I explained to Capt Toggart. you bring ill.
At New Orleans I saw Mr Conwy. He has laid a good foundation but had forwarded no source of revenue in this state. Which he had valuable
